Currently, the lion's share of the production of metal parts and products falls precisely on lathes. Moreover, in recent years, various automatic
lathe complexes have become increasingly widespread, which work with minimal human intervention, performing almost all the tasks of processing products independently.
Metal processing is carried out on lathes with the help of cutting tools, such as drills, reamers, cutters, dies.
The cutting process is carried out due to the rotation of the workpiece on the lathe, as well as the feed movement, that is, the translational movement of the cutter.
The feed movement can be both longitudinal and transverse. Likewise, the angle of the cutter to the axis of movement of the workpiece can vary over a wide range.
The entire process of processing the product in the lathe is carried out in semi-automatic mode.
With the help of a lathe, you can perform turning, i.e. processing the outer surface of the product, trimming - working with end surfaces,
boring - working with internal surfaces, as well as cutting, i.e. dividing the product into parts or dividing the workpiece and the finished product.
Thus, gears, shafts, pulleys, rings, bushings, couplings and many other rotating parts can be manufactured with high precision on a lathe.
