Milling is the processing of a workpiece (part) with a milling cutter. In this process, the cutter rotates at a given speed and removes the required amount of material from the surface of the workpiece. There are different types of milling cutters: cylindrical, end, disk, angular, and shaped. Different types of tools are used depending on the surface to be processed. When milling, the workpiece moves relative to the cutter, the direction can be transverse, vertical or longitudinal. These manipulations are performed on vertical or horizontal milling machines. Milling: face milling (grooves, recesses, grooves, pockets, windows), end milling (processing of large surfaces), peripheral milling (selection of complex grooves), shaped milling (production of toothed and worm profiles).
